Tommy: Let me see if I can name them all.

I know that you mentioned Poppy and Branch, but what other characters from the movie can we expect to see in the live show? “Hug Time” actually goes wrong, and Poppy and Branch throw on a talent show to save Hug Time.Īshleigh: What a wrinkle. We all know Trolls and we know what “Hug Time” is. All the children are going to be able to see their favorite characters like Poppy, Branch, Guy Diamond, Biggie and the rest of their Trolls friends come to life on stage for the first time.

I can tell you right now, you don’t even need to see the actual Trolls movie or TV show to understand the show. I think it’ll be really exciting for audiences to experience it for the first time. You’re right, I think that a lot of adults really do enjoy Trolls, which is different from some other kids shows. I am really excited to have them experience. I always say that I need to be the hip cousin, so I like to stay in the know. The majority of our younger audience is 4 – 9, but I see the parents and all the adults having a good time too.Īshleigh: Of course. You’re going to hear all type of music that everyone is going to be familiar with. I can tell you that the show is for all age groups. Hey, and don’t be surprised if the adults want to go too. Tommy: Oh, you already know all the names. Overall, I think I might rewatch this more than the first Trolls because this is a general pleaser that delivers a lot.Ashleigh: I know a few kids in my family that are super excited to see Poppy, Branch and Guy Diamond and all. There's even a little visual experimentation in a couple parts. This is even better looking than the first film. World Tour continues with the fantastic-looking felt scrapbook look.

In particular, the writers didn't really seem to know what to do with Biggie (voiced by James Corden). I admit that due to the busy cast of characters, a couple of characters' storylines don't get a whole lot of conclusion. The movie's message about accepting people's differences and different likes and cultures may not be the most original, but it is well done. In comparison to the villain in the first film, who was mostly just served to move the plot along, Barb is more morally ambiguous and relatable with some amusing lines. I expecially liked the new villain Barb (voiced by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom). With the trolls traveling across the land meeting more trolls, I felt there was more going on than in the first film. There are a couple jokes where I laughed out loud. The writers were clearly having fun in this.

However, what the movie lacks in originality, it makes up with presentation. Plus, there is a formulaic "guy tries to express his feelings to his love interest but can't quite get it out" trope going on. You get a whole new brand array of trolls in order to sell merchandise. I remember people complaining that the last film was predictable. I admit that this may not be the most ambitious children's film ever made.

You get a whole new brand array of trolls in I liked this sequel.
